Hazard surveys

Over the years we have been participating on a number of hazard surveys in order to identify safety or environmental hazards in the working environment. In the scope of our surveys safety hazards are usually related to tools, processes and personal protective equipment. Environmental hazards on the other hand typically involve the presence of toxic substances, noise, vibration, ionizing radiation and elevated temperature. We can carry out comprehensive hazards site surveys to identify many site specific hazards. We specialise in identification and measurements of hazards such as:

  • Toxic fumes and vapours
  • Noise and vibration
  • Residual contamination (Heavy metals, Toxic substances)
  • Hazardous construction or insulation materials (Asbestos, Refractory mineral fibres)
  • Polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB)
  • Recommendations on the most cost effective solutions;
  • Polyaromatic Hydrocarbons (PHA)
  • Biological Contaminates and pathogenic microorganisms
  • Hazardous surface finishes (Lead and Chromium coatings)
  • Airborne toxic substances are present in the workplace in the form of dust (silica dust), fumes welding fumes), gases (carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide), mists (electroplating chromium mists), vapours (volatiles), low-high oxygen and many other toxic substances. Some of these substances can be measured and compared to safe exposure limits as guided by HSE or OSHA. Many of these substances cannot be easily detected and measured without using sophisticated equipment operated by highly trained technicians.

    We use a variety of measurement and sample collection techniques which allow us to identify the presence of hazardous materials on live or decommissioned sites, quantify the magnitude and extent of the contaminating.

    In consultation with our clients, we prepare hazards assessment plans, identify site specific hazard threshold based on the regulatory requirements and site uses and prepare clear and objective site assessment strategy.

    This multi-layer assessment approach help us to successfully evaluate complex sites with multiple hazards such as decommissioned chemical works and laboratory facilities, Ride damage pharmaceutical production sites, hospitals, school and residential properties.
